Verschoor & Bras is a survey agency active in the field of shipping techniques, mechanics and everything else that falls under the term maritime technology. 

 

Domestic and international principals use our 24/7 specialist knowledge and decisive services. We deal with damage to hull and machinery, we execute surveys and inspections, and supply advice on all kinds of ship-related matters, covering coastal and deepsea shipping, inland shipping, yachts, dredging material, technical installations, and water-related equipment and fixtures such as harbour quays, locks and bridges. 

Our experienced surveyors and administrative staff enable us to provide consistent high-quality services. Many of our staff members have been working with the company for years, helping to build our reputation as a reliable and stable partner for insurers, banks, brokers, and shipowners. Before joining our team, most experts have gained experience as ship’s engineer on major merchant shipping lines.

Our Services

Marine and technical damage surveys
Assessment of damage, incident investigation, salvage operation, repairs set up, deliberation with relevant authorities and surveyors.

Arbitration and recourse
Arbitration: witness-expertise or arbitration to issue (binding) advice; gathering of all necessary information and pieces of evidence.

Recourse: gathering of all information and evidence to seek recourse against potentially liable parties. 

P&I matters and nautical affairs
P&I: inspections done in consultation with local authorities, estimation of cleaning-up costs and investigation of the cause for the calamity.
Nautical affairs: investigation of nautical conflicts such as collisions, groundings and salvage. 

 

Salvage and assistance
Salvage and assistance for seagoing and inland vessels. Coordination of plan of action with shipping company, authorities, classification societies, salvage company / assistance provider.

 

Civil damage surveys
Assessment of the extent and repair costs of damage caused to constructional works (groynes, quays, jetties, dolphins, bridges).

Appraisal
Wide range of valuations on board inland and deep-sea vessels using experts who are registered with the VRT (verenigd register van taxateurs). Production of a clear and detailed appraisal report.
